Visits to the Amethyst mine

The Amethyst mine is located on top of the fell, at the top of Lampivaara, about 400 meters above sea level. The scenery that opens from there is spectacular in all seasons. The mine is climbed from the Lampivaara cafeteria about 150 stairs up to the top of Lampivaara and about 63 steps descend to the mining area, so unfortunately the mining area is not easy accessible.

Amethyst mine visits always start at the Lampivaara café, from where the staff guides visitors on to a guided tour. You can hike or cycle to the cafeteria in the summer and ski, snowshoe or hop on an amethyst pendolino in the winter.

Dogs are welcome to join the mining rounds, as long as they are kept on a leash. With your own car, you can reach the Ukkoluoston P-parking.
