The Aarnilampi Beach is located approximately 2.2 km from Lapland Hotels Luostotunturi towards Pyhä. Opposite the beach rises the majestic Ukko-Luosto fell, making it a truly beautiful spot to enjoy a summer day with family. You can find the beach by turning towards Ukko-Luosto road and then to Aarnilammentie road. There are only a few parking spaces at the beach, so you can also leave your car along Ukko-Luostontie.
Aarnilampi Beach is a swimming spot maintained by the municipality of Sodankylä, offering changing rooms and a small pier. Water quality monitoring is managed by the municipality of Sodankylä and the Environmental Health Services of Tunturi-Lapland. Aarnilampi is a clear-water sandy-bottomed pond that deepens quickly for swimming. In the summer, a pair of swans nest along the shores of the pond, which can often be seen. Please respect their nesting area.
At the other end of Tunturitie from Pyhä, there is another beach on the shores of the clear Pyhäjärvi Lake. Astelin Beach is suitable for swimming with children and offers rental services for SUP boards, canoes, kayaks, and floating platforms, as well as rowing boats with life jackets.
