The Pyhä–Luosto mountain biking trail follows a chain of fells shaped by the Ice Age, connecting the Pyhä and Luosto resort areas. The route winds through old-growth forests, along rocky paths and wide tracks, offering stunning views and peaceful rest stops along the way.

Highlights of the Trail
Lampivaara Café: Enjoy coffee with a view or visit the unique Amethyst Mine.
Day huts and shelters: Pyhälampi, Kapusta, and Kiimaselkä day huts: Ideal spots for a break in the heart of nature. Porontahtoma lean-to shelter: A cozy place to rest and refuel.
Overnight options: Stay at rental huts in Kuukkeli or Huttujärvi, or at the wilderness hut in Huttuloma.
Route Description
The trail is most commonly ridden from Luosto to Pyhä, offering longer downhill sections and more scenic views. It begins near Santa's Hotel Aurora from the National Park info sing - Luostonportti area, climbing toward Lampivaara, then descending to the Pyhälampi day hut. From there, the trail ascends along the side of Latvavaara, continuing past Porontahtoma lean-to and Kapusta day hut, before descending again to Huttujärvi.
From Huttujärvi, the route follows a forest road and ski trail base to Kiimaselkä day hut, and finally leads into the center of Pyhä. The terrain varies from easy gravel paths to more technical, rocky sections, but is mostly rideable with basic mountain biking skills.
Who is the Trail For?
This route is ideal for physically fit riders, including beginners who are ready to tackle a few more challenging sections. Most of the trail consists of wide, well-maintained paths, but there are narrower, rockier stretches and root-covered areas. Gravel surfaces can be fast and slippery, especially when wet – ride with caution.
For the Adventurous
