Spring Winter

Spring winter (March–April) is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Luosto.
The days grow rapidly longer, the sun warms the snow, and the amount of light feels almost magical. The 400‑year‑old trees of the ancient forests sparkle in the spring sun, and the snow-covered spruce woods appear at their very best during this season.
Snow conditions in Luosto are often at their finest in late winter. The slopes and ski tracks remain in excellent condition well into April.

In June and July, Luosto bathes in the light of the Midnight Sun. The sun never sets, and the fell landscape turns almost magical: the light moves softly across the scenery, colors shift with the rhythm of the day, and the ancient forests glow in their vibrant summer green. August in Luosto – The Gentle Late-Summer Harvest Season

August brings late‑summer warmth and natural abundance to Luosto. On the fell slopes and beneath the shelter of old forests, berries and the first mushrooms peek through the ground, and the entire forest exudes the soft energy of late summer. First Snow in Luosto – The Beginning of Winter and the Northern Lights

In October and November, when the first snow arrives in Luosto, the fell settles into a gentle winter slumber. A thin white blanket covers the hilltops and the branches of ancient forests, softening the landscape and bringing with it the first touch of winter. In the light of the first snowfall, Luosto’s spruce forests look like something out of a fairy tale. The first ski tracks and slopes open at the end of November. Local businesses begin their winter season preparations as services open for visitors. The dark evenings create perfect conditions for enjoying the Northern Lights.

Heart of the winter

Deep winter in January and February is the most profound and beautiful moment of Luosto’s winter. The days are the coldest of the year, yet filled with a surprising amount of light.
