Ice Fishing Trip in the Authentic Lappish Village of Seipäjärvi

We warmly welcome you as a guest to our home! Here, you’ll experience the peace and silence of an authentic old Lappish village, where history is present every single day. You’ll see how we live – and how generations before us have lived. Our house also features local history and art. Our furry friends, dogs Netta and Hertta, will join the ice fishing trip.
During the ice fishing trip, we’ll guide you through the local way of fishing. No prior experience is needed. If you wish, we can even hold a friendly competition! You might also see locals fishing or practicing other forms of winter fishing.
In addition to fishing, you can enjoy sledding, try a kicksled or forest skis, and even take a short sleigh ride pulled by a snowmobile. A warm fire will be burning in the kota throughout the trip to ensure you stay cozy and comfortable.
Longer visits and larger groups are possible.
Program Details
- Welcome greeting and introduction to the old village shop atmosphere at Seipäjärventie 1765
- Before heading onto the ice, we ensure safety and ask you to follow given instructions
- The fishing spot is approx. 100 m walk from the yard
- A kota hut is located by the shore for warming up
- In the kota: warm drinks, local pastries, and sausage grilling
- Host Ms. Virve or another local drives the snowmobile and sleigh carrying the fishing gear and our dogs
- Fishing time: approx. 1.5 hours
- Ice fishing stools/buckets and reindeer hides provided for seating
- Fishing holes are pre-drilled, rods and bait are prepared or guided for you

Price & Booking Terms
- Price:
- 2–4 persons: €189/person
- 5–8 persons: €149/person
- For 10–25 persons: request a quote
- Solo fishing: €2 × 189
- Larger groups (up to 50): available upon request
- Suitability:
- Suitable for almost all ages who can walk independently
- The fishing spot is approx. 100 m downhill to the lake shore
- No prior fishing experience required
- Limitations:
- The program will not be held in temperatures below -25°C or in very windy conditions (risk of frostbite, bait handled with bare hands, fishing holes and lines may freeze quickly)
- If fishing is not possible, we will tailor your day with alternative activities
- At the beginning and end of the season, ice thickness and safety are assessed case by case
- Required gear:
- Warm winter clothing (including gloves, hat) and warm footwear
