Welcome to Seipäjärvi, an authentic and genuine Lappish village, for a slow and peaceful walk in silence.
Here, you’ll see how we live – and how generations before us have lived. Our home also features history and art to explore. We also have two friendly dogs you’re welcome to pet.
During the silence walk, you’ll feel your heart sigh with peace and a sense of safety. We are present together, respecting each other through silence. You may hold a friend’s hand and sense the beauty and vastness around you. You’ll feel the earth beneath your feet, hear even the smallest sounds – or perhaps nothing at all. It’s incredible: no streetlights, no traffic noise. We are one with nature – equally small and equally grand.
This sensory walk lasts about 1 hour and ends by the fire at the lakeside kota hut, where we continue in silence, gazing into the flames. There, we share experiences while grilling sausages and enjoying hot or cold drinks with homemade pastries.
In daylight, we walk calmly along forest paths, lakeshores, and village roads, possibly even on the frozen lake (from December onward, depending on ice thickness and safety). We listen to nature’s sounds, pause to observe and touch the surrounding landscape.
In darkness, we walk by lantern or small lamp light. We stroll quietly through the village and forest paths, watching the sky – possibly seeing northern lights or even a shooting star.
During full moon and clear skies, you may even see your shadow. The sky can appear full of stars, feeling closer to the earth.
Weather may vary, and we embrace whatever atmosphere Mother Nature offers.
Please note: we experience four distinct seasons, and conditions can change significantly. However, this walk can be arranged almost year-round.
You may even walk in wool socks during dry weather, especially in crisp winter conditions. (Wool socks are available to borrow – handmade by local artisans.)
